Kunming / Tengchong / Ruili / Myanmar (Maymao, Mandalay, Bagan,Yangon ) Tour (13 Days)

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan, located in China’s far southwest. She has mild climate and can be visited at any time of year. Transfer to hotel.
Meal:Chinese Dinner
Accommodation: Overnight in Kunming

Day 2
Drive to visit Stone Forest, which is called the "No.1 Wonder under Heaven". The area is a deeply eroded limestone Karst area. The unique natural scenic and Sani people’s folklore are characteristics of the Stone Forest Scenic Area. Return journey to Kunming on the same day. Transfer to visit Bird and Plant Market, a daily market where local people sell birds, animal pets, indoor plants and flower. Enjoy Dynamic Yunnan in the evening.

Day 3
Transfer to visit Cuihu Park, a city central lake where local people have pleasure time. Then drive to visit Golden Temple, a Taoist temple (completed made of bronze) that was the idea of General Wu Sangui, a turncoat rebel warlord who used the Temple as his summer residence. Take afternoon flight from Kunming to Tengchong, a town with many volcanoes in the vicinity and lots of hot springs.
Meal: Breakfast / Chinese lunch / Chinese Dinner

Transportation: flight from Kunming to Tengchong

Day 4
Drive to visit Heshun Overseas Chinese Village which is a quite traditional village with cobbled street. There are some great old buildings in the village. The village has a small museum and a famous old library. Transfer to visit Volcanic Sea of Heat. It features a couple of outdoor hot springs. Some of the springs here reach temperatures of 102℃. Then depart to visit Cemetery of Martyrs who died during the anti-Japanese war.

Day 5
Drive from Tengchong to Ruili(240km, 5 hours driving). Enjoy pretty sceneries and valleys full of villages and terraced rice plantations on the way via Mangshi. En route Stop to visit Official Residence of Nandian Chief Administrator, the Qing Dynasty relics where the world-famous "Margary Incident'' took place. Afternoon visit the jewellery street where Burmese traders deal in jade and gold. In the evening, visit the bustling night market.

Day 6
Transfer to Jiegao,the border check point between Chinese and Myanmar. After customs formality clearance, the guide will leave you at the border on Chinese side, you will cross by foot to the Myanmar side and meet your Myanmar guide. Drive to Lashio (187km, 5hrs driving), which is in a mountain basin with the elevation of 855m. Transfer to the outskirts of Lashio from where continue on foot about 4 km slight up-hill (1 hour walk per way) on an unpaved path to get to the Nam Kyan village. You will have an opportunity to get an insight to the culture of the Palaung people and learn more of their life style and society.

Day 7
Wander through the busy local market. Then transfer to visit Quan Yinsan Chinese style temple. Scenically drive to Pyinoolwin (Maymyo) (190km, 6hrs driving), the former British hill station with delightful small town of colonial-style buildings, markets, and a botanical garden.

Accommodation: Overnight in Pyinoolwin (Maymao)

Day 8
Explore the local market. Drive to Mandalay. On arrival in Mandalay, transfer to visit the Mahamuni Pagoda; the Shwe Inbin Monastery; the Golden Palace Monastery, a superb example of a traditional wooden architecture and Kuthodaw Pagoda the world’s largest book, made of marble. Visit a traditional hand-woven silk workshop as well as a Kalaga tapestry craftsmen's shop before driving to Mandalay Hill for sunset.

Day 9
Drive to visit Mahagandayon Monastery in Amarapura (15km), where more than a thousand monks live and study. Transfer to visit U Bein teak bridge which was built in 1782 during the era when Amarapura was the Royal capital. Visit a traditional hand-woven silk workshop, then depart to Bagaya Monastery, a compound with a superb collection of Buddha statues.
In the afternoon, embark for a short boat ride over a river and start to explore the former Royal Capital INWA (AVA) by horse cart. Visit Nanmyint Watch Tower, the remains of the ancient palace building, also known as “the leaning tower of Ava“; Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, built of brick and stucco; Bargayar Monastery, famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts then continue to Sagaing Hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees for sunset.

Day 10
Transfer to the wharf and board ferry boat for a trip on the Ayayarwaddy River to Bagan. The boat trip takes approx. 8 hour downriver.

Day 11
Wander through the colorful local market and visit the pagodas and temples of Bagan including Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; Gu Byanuk Gyi, and Khay Min Ga Temple noted for its panoramic view over the area’s numerous monuments and Ananda Temole, with four standing Buddha images. In the afternoon, visit a lacquer ware craftsmen’s workshop in nearby Myinkaba village. Continue visit Manuha Temple, built in the Mon style in 1059 and follow on to Nanbaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument which is the former palace site of King Manuha according to legends according to legends. Watch the magical sunset over the famous Ayeyarwaddy River and countless pagodas by a ox-cart or horse-cart ride to one of the pagodas.

Accommodation: Overnight in Bagan

Day 12
Transfer to Bagan airport and take flight to Yangon. On arrival, drive to visit Yangon’s colonial-style city center. Then visit Sule Pagoda, dating back over 2,000 years ago; the magnificent reclining Buddha Cuauk Htat Gyi; and after short stop at the Karaweik Hall, a 'hamsa-bird-shaped' floating barge on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake, wandar through the Bogyoke Market and visit one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Accommodation: Overnight in Yangon

Day 13
Drive to the Yangon International airport, where this tour ends.
